Ice Time Hat: Mosaic & Cable Knitting with Jen Lessonde 1/5-1/26
Ice Time Hat: Mosaic & Cable Knitting
Join instructor Jen Lassonde to learn how to knit her Ice Time Hat. This 2-color hat is worked with mosaic knitting (so you’re never using more than 1 color in any given row) and includes slipped stitches and simple 1x1 cables. This class is perfect for the adventurous beginner who has learned the basics of knitting, decreasing and working in the round and is looking to learn some new techniques- specifically mosaic knitting, cabling without a cable needle and slipped stitch knitting.
Please arrive 15-20 minutes before the first class to pick out yarn and materials for this course.
Supplies:
- Yarn: 2 skeins of DK weight yarn that have a decent amount of contrast between them (minimum of 50g each).
- Needles: US 5 & US 7 Needles. If you prefer magic loop- plan for a 32" or 40" cord. If you want to work in the round for the body, you'll want a 16" cord for each plus a US 7 needle with at least 32" cord OR US 7 double-pointed needles for the crown decreases.
- Notions: 1 removable stitch marker or safety pin to mark the front of your work. 4 stitch markers to mark repeats of the pattern & 1 cable needle (optional), tapestry needle, scissors & pen.
Must be experienced in: long tail cast on, basic decreases and knitting in the round.
Classes will be held from 6:30p - 8:30p on Wednesdays, starting January 5, then running Jan 12, 19 & 26th.
